More often, what is on your plate is more important than the time that you spend in the gym when you want to lose some weight. If you want to see the biggest change, one study from 2015 from Harvard says that we should be cutting carbs, not fats.
The purposes of the study were published in PLoS One. Researchers from Harvard reviewed about 53 randomized trials of over 68,000 patients that have been assigned to either low-fat or low-carb diets. The researchers found that low – carb are actually consistently better at helping the patients in losing weight than low – fat diets. Those participants of the low – carb diets lost 2.5 pounds more than those on low-fat diets, with average weight loss among all of the groups at about six pounds.
This recent study on the weight loss benefits of a low – carb diet also adds some further evidence.
If we want to lose weight, what can help us to success is ditching bread, not olive oil. According to another recent study, those dieters who ate fewer than 40 grams of carbohydrates per day lost about eight pounds more than those that were put on a low-fat diet. According to other studies, the high – carb diets may be the real heart – disease culprit and not the saturated fat.
All in all, this is actually a good reminder that if we want to lose weight, we should choose a diet which is rich in healthy fats, lean proteins, as well as fresh produce. But, not all fats are created equal. That’s why you will need to check which healthy fats you should incorporate in your diet.
