Nutriments

No nutrition treats arthritis, but with a right combination of nutriments you can significantly reduce the occurrence of inflammatory processes.

Arthritis is an inflammatory disease of the connective tissue that most commonly affects the joints. Although there are several different types of arthritis – psoriatic, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis – treatment for all kinds is aimed at reducing inflammation. Regular consumption of some nutriments is a trigger for the appearance of painful swelling, which is why your doctor might refer you to the so-called “an elimination diet” to find out which nutriments are disturbing you.

These are the foods that most often create problems for people with arthritis.

Dairy products

Dairy products contain a type of protein that is thought to irritate the tissue around your joints. It does not matter to everyone, but adults do not need a diet rich in milk and dairy products anymore. Try to eliminate dairy table from the diet to see how it affects your arthritis. Proteins can be replaced by foods such as quinoa, lentils, tofu, peas, and spinach.

Refined sugar

It has come up with a painful condition that you want to avoid, and a high daily intake of sugar leads straight to it. This is because of the sudden growth of the final glycation products, or Advanced Glycation End-products, which are created when sugar molecule bind to protein or fat in the body. AGE substances are attributed to accelerated aging, an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and, of course, inflammatory processes.

MSG (Monosodium glutamate)

Food additives are particularly problematic for people with arthritis, and MSG is the best example. It is a salt-based powder that is added to many foods. You will probably find MSG in many salad dressings, soup blends, fast food and meat delicacies. The main problem is perhaps the content of sodium, which can cause water retention and swelling.

Tobacco

Technical tobacco is not food, but it is very harmful to your body. Studies have shown that smokers are at higher risk for rheumatoid arthritis, as toxic substances from cigarettes damage the joints, bones, and connective tissue. If you suffer from arthritis, stop smoking! Not only does it cause painful symptoms, but treatment makes it less effective and causes additional complications if you ever need surgery.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol increases the risk of gout, a disease that can cause arthritis especially in the feet. When you have gout, uric acid does not metabolize properly, creating small crystals that are harmful to your joints and lead to inflammation. Too much alcohol also forces the liver to work overtime, weakens its functionality, which leads to new inflammation.

Salt

Salt is another food that your doctor will be a warning of for the possibility of causing inflammation of the joints. Salt does not affect every organism equally, but most people consume it in excessive amounts. Reducing sodium in your diet is a good idea for many reasons, and everyone is attached to the food.

Saturated Fats

Consumption of high saturated foods exacerbates inflammatory conditions in arthritis, especially in fatty tissue. Inflammation in fatty tissue indicates possible heart disease. The most saturated sources of saturated fat are full-fat dairy products, red meat, and fried and processed foods.

Omega-6 fatty acids

Since too many omega-6 fatty acids activate inflammatory chemicals released in your body, try to achieve a better ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 by switching to olive oil and adding seeds such as flax and pumpkin to your diet.
