The winter season is romantic, but fertile too

Have you ever thought about how you know more people celebrating their birthdays in the summer than winter? No need to be a great mathematician to count nine months down and realize when these babies are conceived. You probably have imagined a cozy warm room in front of your eyes, a fire in the fireplace, a Christmas tree. What a romantic atmosphere. Who would not have in mind to make a new life in situations like this, full of love and passion? The winter season is the point when a modern man has more free time, spending it with his loved ones and becoming more emotional. Babies conceived during the holiday seasons are nothing new at all.

And it’s not a wonder, science actually proves that more babies are born in the period between June and November, which can be taken as the summer half of the year. Nothing in the world happens for an accidental. There is a real pattern by which Mother Nature breeds and gives life to its inhabitants.

Life on planet Earth takes place through the seasons. Below and above Ecuador we have four seasons, in the belt, wet and dry season zone. In addition to the phenomenon of the season, there is a phenomenon in almost all living beings, from insects to mammals, and even humans, to planning their family at a time when their reproductive abilities are at its peak. You know the story of mating cats in February? Well, that’s precisely what we’re talking about.

People love each other more when it’s cold

The first analyses of the seasonal conceiving in humans date back to the 1800s. Today, it is known that, with smaller or higher oscillations depending on the geographical environment, there are two peaks in birthrate during the year. It is considered that the population living in the north, this highest percentage of birth is achieved roughly in the early summer – June or July. In the southern nationalities, the peak is at the beginning of November. For example, in Finland, most babies are born in April, while in Jamaica the population increases significantly in November. In some places, traditions, such as mass weddings in autumn, can disrupt statistical data, but globally, numbers prove the pattern by which babies are conceived around the world.

The psychological and biological aspect of the seasonal conceived babies

The psychological reason for babies conceived in the winter period, which explains merely these oscillations concerning the distance from the equator, is the change in temperature and shorter days. Those kinds of conceivings are more pronounced and likely to happen in more rural areas. Environmental conditions significantly affect people from these communities. Anyway, sudden cold weather, heating in homes and less daylight encourages sexual behavior in people, and therefore their will to conceive the offspring.

The biological cause of winter conceiving is fertility. Perhaps closely linked to the first mentioned, the more frequent sexual relations between partners. But one should not just look at a man – let’s take it as an example of an animal. All mammals, apart from man, counting fertility with the length of the day. If the day is shorter, fertility in both, male and female specimens increases. More likely, they will be conceived. Animal species will spend the winter in pregnancy. The primary goal is to bring a baby into the world in springtime when there is plenty of food and survival is guaranteed.

Human behavior cannot be much different from other mammals. When a person instinctively gets a wish for reproduction, he and his partner start to produce seasonal, regardless of the enormous social, environmental and cultural influences. These influences can lead to a loss of seasonality due to family planning, the closed space in which we work, the schedule that we live in, the light of the lights or many other factors that change our natural habitat, just like our instincts.
