Deodorants and Antiperspirants Are Harmful- Get Rid Of Unpleasant Smells With Natural Products

- in Style and Beauty

The use of deodorant and other cosmetic preparations against sweating can cause serious health problems.  Proper nutrition and plenty of water will overcome the problem of unpleasant smell of sweat, but sometimes it still needs something else. Of course, deodorants are doing their job, but they are not healthy.

Naturally, our body is capable of removing toxins and harmful ingredients through the skin, so we use deodorant, which helps us regulate it. Make sure to reduce unpleasant odors. Also, we must admit that natural deodorants and antiperspirants, which are increasingly in the market, most of them do not do their job well. So, what to do? Smell or risk health?

Ingredients in Deodorants That Should Be Avoided

Aluminum. The declarations are titled aluminum chloro-hydrate, ammonium aluminum sulfate, potassium aluminum sulfate, aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly. Those compounds are used to prevent perspiration of sweat through the breed. Aluminum stays in the body and accumulates over time.

Propylene glycol. It was developed initially as antifreeze. In deodorants and antiperspirants it is used as a humidifier and to increase absorption. Propylene glycol proved to be irritating to the skin and cause allergic reactions, even at low concentrations of two percent.

Parabens. Used as preservatives in a broad range of cosmetic and food products. They have been shown to have estrogenic effects and are suspected of impairing the endocrine system. Studies have found tissue parabens in breast cancer, but have never been officially introduced into the relationship as the leading cause of cancer.

Triclosan. This is an antifungal and antibacterial chemical used in many personal hygiene products, including soaps and deodorants. For triclosan, it has been proven to interfere with the endocrine system in animals, in particular, to affect the hormone function of the thyroid gland. It is also associated with pollen fever and the development of allergies. Besides, triclosan can react with water from the fountain and thus form chloroform, so it is considered possible carcinogen. It’s forbidden in America.

Negative Health Effects

Both antiperspirants and deodorants can have poor health effects. Scientists in the field of medicine believe that blocking the pores and preventing sweating is unhealthy because it is a natural way to cool our body. It is assumed that chemicals that contain antiperspirants (for example, aluminum) can cause cancer and other serious illnesses. Some tests have shown a correlation between the regular use of antiperspirant and breast cancer. The risk is even higher if the antiperspirant is used right after shaving. Other researches show that aluminum, absorbed through the skin, enters the bloodstream, and then accumulates in the brain. Scientists have linked this phenomenon with the rise in Alzheimer’s disease.

Previously, deodorants were considered much more harmless than antiperspirants. But recent research has confirmed the relationship of parabens, which contain many deodorants, with the appearance of breast cancer.
